OUR IMPACT
NRCDC is a Houston-based CDC operating primarily in South Central Houston and serving Southeast Houston neighborhoods since 1990. Our most significant impacts include:

- Rehabilitated, owns and manages NUBIA Square Apartments, 192 units of affordable housing.
- Averages 96% occupancy in NUBIA Square Apartments.
- Created and developed the Renaissance Center, a 100,000 square-foot retail center anchored by a grocery store, and the first of its type in Texas developed by a community-based organization.
- Over 375 people have been employed onsite at the Renaissance Center since completion.
- Transitions an average of 20 families per year from NUBIA Square to homeownership.
- Provides Money Health and Wealth financial literacy, homebuyer counseling, homeowner training and foreclosure prevention services at NUBIA Square.


- Owns and operates the 16-station Computer Learning and Technology Center at NUBIA Square, with computer training offered to the community of over 2,400 usages annually.
- The Renaissance Center generates an economic impact estimated to be $40,000,000 annually.
- Seven (7) new businesses have been developed generating further economic investment in the area.
- Provided social and financial assistance to approximately 5,000 Hurricane Katrina evacuees.
- Commenced an affordable housing program for low and moderate income families by acquiring and constructing the first three single-family homes.
- Sold the Renaissance Center in September 2007, positioning NRCDC to provide even greater levels of service to the community.
