The Neighborhood Recovery Community Development Corporation (NRCDC) works with individuals and families to achieve their dreams of economic self-sufficiency. One dream shared by many is home ownership.
Buying a home is an exciting opportunity to fulfill dreams and make new beginnings. It can also be a very complicated process. NRCDC’s goal is to help families through education and financial health. NRCDC provides homebuyer counseling and homeowner training classes for up to three years after the home purchase. These sessions enhance the quality of life for the participating families, as well as prepare them for homeownership by teaching how to:
- Obtain appropriate financing
- Protect your investment
- Understand what your family can afford
- Document your ability to repay a loan
- Negotiate a fair price that fits your other financial goals and commitments
NRCDC recently added foreclose prevention counseling, adapting to the times and the need to provide the full spectrum of family economic services.
NRCDC helps approximately 20 families a year transition from its rental properties to homeownership. NRCDC believes that expanding the availability of homebuyer education and providing access to counseling not only benefits the new homeowner, but also greatly improves the sustainability of communities.
