The Neighborhood Recovery Community Development Corporation (NRCDC) is working to build a strong foundation for economic development and revitalization in south central Houston. Recognizing that construction, housing and real estate are essential economic drivers for urban revitalization, NRCDC created commercial and retail development programs designed to enhance the social and economic health of the neighborhoods; benefiting residents and serving as a major economic engine.
The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC), a nonprofit organization that assists municipalities in devising economic strategies for their inner cities recently conducted a study that found for every $1 invested in construction, housing and real estate, the benefits multiply exponentially. The study found that these industries not only bring real, tangible infrastructure to inner city economies, they create jobs, income and wealth for inner city residents.
NRCDC recognizes that commercial and retail development can provide the south central area with economic stability and offer an enormous opportunity for revenue creation. The organization has an aggressive plan to attract and develop multiple real estate and investment opportunities that will impact thousands of families and allow NRCDC to serve in building sustainable communities.
The organization is committed to the economic development of south central Houston and plans to sponsor, acquire, develop, operate, or serve as the conduit for at least 350,000 square feet of retail or commercial business space and the development of 25 new businesses over the next 10 years.
