Michael Trejo

Vice President of Community Banking
Iberia Bank

Michael Trejo, VP of Community Banking for IBERIABANK, manages a top-flight branch in the Memorial City area. In his eleven years in banking, Michael has experienced success and recognition through his passion for coaching and associate development.  He has earned five recognition trips for being in the top 1% of his peers and has consistently won sales excellence awards for exceeding his goals. Through the years, Michael has grown his book of business by partnering up with community leaders and hosting events in his branches such as home ownership seminars, self-defense classes, and even creating networking groups among local businesses. This has set Michael apart from others as he strives to be the local face of his community.

Since 1997, Michael has been committed to giving back to the community. He has volunteered as a community outreach worker for Commissioner El Franco Lee, been an emergency room translator for Bentaub Hospital, served as a District Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America Antares District, and lead a group of 12 adults through a 16 week financial makeover with an ultimate goal to increase their income and net worth by 20% through the organization Skills 4 Living. Currently, Michael serves on the advisory board for Harris County Precinct One and is on the Board of Directors for National Hispanic Professional Organization (NHPO) and Skills 4 Living.

One of Michael’s keys to success has been the power of networking and word-of-mouth.  Michael stays involved with organizations such as Association for Latin Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA), Texas Young Professionals (TYP), and the Houston West Chamber of Commerce (HHCC).  He leverages the relationships he is able to build through important face-to-face time, communication and follow-up.  Michael is known to let his customers know, “I will not make a recommendation to you that I would not be comfortable recommending to my parents;” building on trust, one client at a time.
