First Southwest Company
Drew K. Masterson is the Managing Director of First Southwest Company and is active in Public Finance. Mr. Masterson joined First Southwest Company in 1996 following the merger between Masterson Moreland Sauer Whisman, Inc. (MMSW) and First Southwest Company.
Prior to joining MMSW, Mr. Masterson worked in Public Finance at Shearson Lehman Brothers Inc. in New York City. After a two-year leave of absence to attend the Wharton Graduate School of Business, he rejoined MMSW in May of 1989.
Mr. Masterson’s responsibilities at First Southwest Company include developing and maintaining financial advisory relationships for issuers of tax-exempt bonds in Texas including: universities, community colleges, private schools, not-for-profits, school districts, cities, counties, utility districts and others. He is also Co-Manager of Public Finance in Houston.
Mr. Masterson graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics. He received a Masters of Business Administration with honors with a major in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
A native Houstonian, Mr. Masterson is involved in numerous community and social organizations. He is a current board member of the Neighborhood Recovery Community Development Corporation, and YES College Preparatory School. He is past President of the Municipal Advisory Council of Texas, OrchestraX and the Forest Club. He was a member of Leadership Houston’s Class XVI and the 2004 Fall Business-Civic Leadership Forum for the Center for Houston’s Future. He has served as a member on the City of Houston’s Investment Committee. He spends his spare time with his wife, Madeline, and their three children Drew Jr., Blake, and Kendal.
